After Richard Hunt received lifesaving care following a heart attack in his studio, we followed up on his treatment as part of our effort to create documentary-style pieces highlighting the groundbreaking treatments available at Northwestern Medicine. This short film showcases how that care transformed the life of an extraordinary, boundary-pushing sculptor. The piece was nominated for a regional Emmy and won a Gold Telly Award in the branded documentary category in 2022.

When I took on this project, I had seen Richard Hunt’s work dozens of times in the Art Institute’s atrium, but I had never fully grasped the significance of his artistry until I visited his studio. It was a privilege to film at the Art Institute and to meet Richard in his creative space.
